Shikra (3) (Accipiter badius) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1674) (Comments - 5278)
India Hunting in the early morning at Nanoli in the countryside east of Bombay. At first I thought it was a Sparrowhawk, but the light colour, lack of tail bands and minimal barring above the legs points to Shikra.

United Kingdom (England) This young Sparrow hawk took a starling from my feeder and spent the next hour devouring it on the ground. It was very tame and let me get to around 3 ft from it.

Germany Sorry for the poor quality, but as I was biking through the regional park at Waldorf near Frankfurt I saw my first Sparrowhawk. Could not get any closer though. This is an accipiter, but not the same as the similar Sharp-shinned Hawk.
