Canada (British Columbia) Another species cracks the 100 upload club :) North Saanich, BC. It's interesting how this bird's throat is rather dark.

Canada (Ontario) South Lancaster - If you spend enough time outdoors shooting you will occasionally come across exciting subjects. This was one of those and being lucky enough to capture it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The picture attracted significant attention on both the Weather Network and CBC radio. The Pileated, protecting its nest, had a brief altercation with the squirrel. Over in seconds, the squirrel and woodpecker parted with no further issue.

Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - I watched a pair for about 20 minutes. They were very high and almost always in shadow or behind branches. The female briefly showed enough for a few shots including this one with a moth she dug out from behind some bark.

Canada Russell - It seems like everyone is finding opportunities to capture these great birds. This one was digging at the bottom of a tree then went inside a large hole at the base and could be heard inside the rotted out shell. I was only feet away. It didn't care. Had to back up to get some of the shots. Way too close.

Canada (Ontario) Rockport - Very unusual. This bird was feeding on withered wild grapes. It wolfed quite a few down and was only about 10 feet away. Amazing sight.
