Canada (Ontario) Ingleside - Regionally uncommon and locally even harder to find. This bird was with Lesser Yellowlegs and came towards us, approaching as close as four metres.

Canada (Ontario) Ingleside - Continuing with the recent shorebird theme, this bird was hanging around with Lesser Yellowlegs. It is an uncommon regional bird in migration.

Northern Shoveler (34) (Anas clypeata) User: Chris  (See all photos - 1456) (Comments - 4377)
Canada (Alberta) It was a surprise to stumble upon the area around Lake Newell, Alberta teeming with birds, from Redheads, Canvasbacks, Ruddy Ducks, Shovelers, Teals, Scaup, Brewer's, Vesper and Clay-coloured Sparrows, Meadowlarks, Longspurs, Larks, Willets, Avocets, Stilts, Upland Sandpipers, Ibis, Pelicans...almost too much to take in in one morning. What a special area.

Canada (Ontario) Ingleside - This bird was feeding with Lesser Yellowlegs for a nice comparison. Note light eye stripe and slightly decurved bill tip. Bird is a bit smaller than Yellowlegs and legs are greeny-yellow.

United States (Florida) Merrit Island National Wildlife Reserve, Florida (not positive of the identification. Although not seen in this photo, the legs on this sandpiper were shorter than those of a Stilt and are dark in color)
