Excellent composition, great details, the females are not very easy to see, they are always on the nests.

Nice late day light on this bird. It came back to one of several bushes repeatedly so I kept moving from place to place, eventually being successful. I worked with various birds for about two hours. I find they are seldom out in the open long enough or close enough for a good shot. The females were virtually never up. The female I've shown here was the exception and was incredibly cooperative. That was totally unexpected.

I've been away in Japan but clearly have some catch-up to do. Terrific soft lighting on a hard to get species.

I'm sure Japanese birds made up for it but seeing these guys is a great spring and early summer treat. I have loads of great shots of these birds from that day but I like the light on this one especially as well as his posture.
