This was another surprise. The kinglet was in shadow so I had to bump the ISO higher than I'd like because shutter speed wasn't very high. The trick here was that I was shooting from a monopod. Most of my zoom shots are now 'pole stabilized' in addition to lens stabilization. The success rate on keepers over results from last year has increased by over 50%. It's cumbersome and I miss some shots but it was the smartest move I've made in years.

This bird has been a tough one for me but this particular individual gave me a break. It was only about 3 seconds but that was enough
