Taken from my car window so I wouldn't be added to the list of 'casualties'.

I have held off on the back story so here goes. This is one of two Merlins that are having a go at the public. This one is not quite as aggressive towards pedestrians near its nest but a second bird is more aggressive and has made contact with a number of people. Arm scratches are probably the most prevalent injuries but there may have been a few with head scratches as well. The arms go up to protect the head and then they takes the hit. The city has erected signs on sidewalks warning of falcon attacks and cordoned off multiple sidewalks at a busy intersection. They are going to catch the adults (good luck on that one) and relocate them. The young will be retrieved from the nest and if old enough relocated as well. If not they will be taken to a wild bird care centre. This is not usual for Merlins.
