Olive-sided Flycatcher (Contopus cooperi)
Near-threatened
User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1127)
Canada (Ontario) Algonquin Park - How do I know it was a male? Because it was singing us a nice song. "Quick three beers". It was very high up in a dead tree so quite a crop unfortunately. If you've noticed I'm on a flycatcher roll. No chance of an Acadian but maybe I'll still get lucky somehere with a Yellow-bellied.

Great find!
Not very common these days.
The song is a dead giveaway.
Congratulations!

The song is what I picked up first. Good thing the weather was good for contrast.

I'd say this is my favourite flycatcher song. We never see it in our area.

A rarity for the most and also on the site. Excellent job.

I just wish the bird had not been so high up but as usual it will find the topmost perch. I am able to whistle its call (at least it was good enough to elicit a response) so it came from across the pond to check me out.
