Canada (Ontario) Ingleside - It has been a good year for dowitchers showing up in different places in Ontario but of course in low numbers. The Long-billed is less commonly found in the East.

This was a combination of timing and luck. The instant it took off I hit the shutter release and grabbed four shots. Because I was on tripod and shooting periodically before that, focus and settings were ready and I was on the bird so it ended up working well. I was actually shocked.

I’m also shocked. Great details. You must have been not only shooting at a high speed, but with both wings fully in focus, at a good depth of field as well!

It was 1/2500 sec at f7.1; I was lucky I had it so high. That part was not planned.
