South Lancaster - I had to be at the site by 5:15 a.m. to make sure I'd see the crane family head from the marsh to an adjacent soybean field. My shooting window today lasted about 3 minutes with the best shots in the first minute. Usually it is about 20 seconds.

Something a bit different...an upload from my iPhone. Last year we had a Black-capped Chickadee family. I’ve never seen their nest so decided to check out the old nest. Algoma District - A treat for us so used to Red-winged Blackbirds. They have little in common with them except the family association. They are more approachable, spend most of the day ground feeding in grassy areas, fly about interacting with one another, have a very different call and males have an almost liquid metallic sheen.
