You managed to get the best diagnostic feature well.
Nice side lighting. Definitely a merganser with that bill and this juvenile Hooded Merganser shows its overall brown plumage well.
It has been a good month for migrant warblers and as usual, Presqu’ile came through for you.
This was one not to be missed. This ‘Old World’ flycatcher seems out of place in North America so it is a real treat when one shows up.
Boy! You really get around for those rarities!
That worked well.
Interesting posture and good colour.
I don’t know how many Harriers I’ve come across and never had any luck with them. I tried with this one and it worked pretty well.
They get them along the Gulf Coast in the US during the breeding season and before migration so that’s where it likely came from. We got lucky with this bird that has hung around for over 10 days. It is far for me so one trip was all I could make.
Amazing to see so far north.
Great find and capture!!
Nice action shot!
Great find and capture,Brian.
You also managed to get a closeup with the bird perched. We have seen them often in the tropics but it is really way out of it’s range!!
It is especially nice when you see a rarity like this very close to home.
The bird is quite good looking.
Great find Brian. What a nice-looking bird
Nice flight shot!
Amazing to see outside it’s usual range!
Indeed excellent: a good milestone 100th for the Grand Pic!
Great ID. Very nicely done
