Eurasian Collared Dove (11) (Streptopelia decaocto) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1413) (Comments - 3810)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - This new bird for the region showed up at the same location as the Painted Bunting. It was two for the price of one although both were not seen at the same time. How do we know this is a female? The male Mourning Dove that took a fancy to her was the clue. She wasn't into extra-species activity so after he annoyed her for a short time she flew.

Painted Bunting (6) (Passerina ciris)
Near-threatened
User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1413) (Comments - 3810)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - There was a surprise visit from this southern species. Her plumage is bland compared with the incredibly coloured male but the green is actually a very interesting hue.

Ross's Goose (7) (Anser rossii) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1413) (Comments - 3810)
Canada (Ontario) Hamilton - Two immature Ross's Geese spent the winter in a park near the waterfront. Their plumage changed over that time and in recent weeks they showed their new adult plumage. Looking good.

Neotropical Cormorant (11) (Phalacrocorax brasilianus) User: Brian Morin  (See all photos - 1413) (Comments - 3810)
Canada (Ontario) Ottawa - A rarity from Texas that periodically wanders into Ontario. For the last few years one has been seen at the western end of Lake Ontario or along Lake Erie. It is quite a rarity in the east though.
