A scene I didn't think I'd ever see - an Aplomado Falcon being chased by a Kestrel. What made this so unexpected was that I wasn't aware this species was present in Texas. Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.

Ottawa National WIldlife Refuge - the bird spent 5 minutes trying to swallow an obviously too large to handle fish. The grebe eventually won.

On Sanibel Island, the JN Darling Nat. Wildlife Refuge takes up a sizable fraction of the island. The Ding Darling Drive is a great way to see shore birds. The merganser was in one of the larger lagoons.
