These birds dislike open areas but once in a while one will poke around at the edge of the cattails. I could hear two calling about 5 metres away and eventually this one came into the open briefly.
Egrets are not rare in this area but they do grab our attention, especially in a situation like this. The bird was at the small pond west of the visitor centre, viewable from the new blind. It was fortunately a few metres beyond the morning sunlight which made capturing white feather detail easier. There was no disturbance in the water, making an almost mirror-like reflection possible. It was as close to perfect as you could get.
Superb!

Wow ! Superb find, excellent capture.
Well Captured, hope we see it here soon.
Awesome. I saw it noted on the ABA daily mega rarity list.
Ultra lucky. I went back later and people were wandering around trying to find it. Apparently this is the 4th record for BC.
That worked well.
Nice looking subject
Striking species…very nicely done!
Terrific! Already this year? I wonder if any weather or climate issues will affect the normal migration patterns through southern Ontario. Are you planning anything special? I’ll be at Long Point May 10th weekend.
Stunning. Terrific job!
A good one. Nice looking male.
Point Pelee offered up a great photo opportunity.
A very dainty looking individual
