Jacanas have very long toes that allow them to walk on the leaves of water lilies. They are present in every swamp of the country, and I can't remember exactly where this particular pic was taken!

The only remaining wild colonies of Bald Ibis are in Morocco and Syria, but earlier on it was widespread in Europe, too. In an attempt to reestablish the species, a new colony was introduced in Austria. These birds have been trained to fly behind an ultra-light plane, with the goal to teach them to migrate. From Austria they are taken to Italy for the winter, and that's where one can find them (about 30-40 birds).

The Rufous Hornero is Argentina's national bird! They are mostly known for their oven-shaped nests, that one can observe even on hydro poles and other man-made structures!

This juvenile hummingbird was sitting still on a branch waiting to get fed from its parents! This species is the most common in large parts of South America.

A very common bird in the city. In December, chicks of many species are about to fledge. During this time they get out of their nests but are still fed by their parents (like the one in the picture).

This Chimango Caracara was observed at a water treatment plant close to Trelew. These birds are quite adapted to urban environments and are found very close to cities.
