Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

This is the latest Gray Catbird I've seen in Montreal - Dec 20th. Photo taken on today's Christmas Bird Count at Dorval, Quebec. Thanks to Greg for spotting it - he got much better pics than I did.

I found this Snowy Owl sleeping at night near runway 24R at the Montreal Airport in Dorval. My first attempt at a long exposure of this species; photo taken at 8:30pm under a cloudy sky. The backside of the bird is only slightly lit by the hangar lights.

The Yellow-throated Warbler at the Port of Montreal, Quebec was seen here taking a break in the hedgerow along the river.

Paruline à gorge jaune au Port de Montréal aujourd'hui. Il prenait un p'tit pause juste à côté du fleuve derrière le Studio Mel's. J'espère qu'il pourrait rester l'hiver ou au moins trouver sa direction vers le sud.

To my great surprise, I've now photographed a second Yellow-throated Warbler in the Montreal area this fall. This bird was trying to find food along the St-Lawrence River despite chilly temperatures and lots of snow. Seen at the Port of Montreal this afternoon trying to stay warm.
