Cottonwood Flats Trail, Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta - 18 June 2008
.
With the Badlands nearby, this trail is much less traveled (not another soul on morning and late afternoon circuits of the trail). A quick hike thru will give the impression that there is little bird activity. However, if you find a shaded spot and wait patiently (something the bug swarms will appreciate tremendously), you will find yourself surrounded by activity.
With so much rain in June, the mushy ground made it difficult to get close enough for good photos in many areas, however species too numerous to count could be viewed with binos.
