Saw quite a few Bobwhite, but they were very tricky to photograph. La Joya, Texas on Jara Chinas Rd.

You were fortunate to get the important features of the bird in the clear.
It’s amazing how fast they cover open ground. And if the is a line of grass, they may work perpendicularly left or right instead of running away, which I’m guessing helps evade predators more effectively
