After many failed attempts in less than optimal photo conditions, it was a surprise to find this Quail in the open. Santa Margarita Ranch, west of Roma, Texas.

Great detail on this and your other Texas subjects. This quail posed perfectly. I like the perspective as well with an angle below the bird.
Thanks all. Interesting you noticed the perspective Brian. He was on a 15-20 foot high ridge…which probably helped in that the bird didn’t feel as threatened.
The perspective makes this a very unique shot.
