London - The bird was actively calling for a prospective mate but none showed up. Similar to the Eastern Meadowlark but the call is a giveaway for this Prairie bird. The yellow on the face extends onto the cheek past the bill and the back is a sandier colour rather than brown.

I spent a couple of hours with this bird at first light, hoping that it would come to the fence. It had been singing in a field about 100 metres away but eventually I was rewarded.
