Another early morning and hike down a steep,muddy trail to see the lek of this gorgeous species.
They start to " dance and sing" at dawn.The males collect in a lek and perform for the females making a very loud noise.By 7 am it is all over.

Not all birds a equal.To see this species involved an early morning drive over very bad road to a farm in the Andes near a town called The 23rd of June.We had to hike down a steep,muddy hill,cross a river and then up the other side.The bird was perched high in a tree.We were able to see 2 males and one female as this was a lek. The views were all back lit so this is the best I could manage.
