Taken during the snow storm. It caught a starling at our feeder in Pointe Claire.

This very endangered species only lives in a very restricted range of 100 kms in Northern Peru.It is estimated that there are only 100 individuals in existance. We visited Huembo reserve with Santos Mantenegro, the caretaker there. This is my favorite species of hummingbird as you only get very fleeting glances of him darting out for protection in the shrubs. We travelled to Northern Peru in 2007 to see this species and again this year.it is hoped that it will not become extinct.
