About 2 min after this bird zipped by, a Willet and a Marbled Godwit, along with several dozens sandpipers came in the opposite direction - amazing what he can flush. Boundary Bay, BC.

The sunny weather continues in BC, which made this possible once it was high enough in the sky in Richmond, BC, Canada. One Canada's most formidable aerial hunters up close and personal like I've never seen before.

A little luck and some patience for the sun to rise - without a doubt my closest encounter with a pair of Peregrine Falcons in 30 years of birding. The birds appeared right at home coming and going from a large tree next to the river in Richmond. An early Christmas present.

Not all shots are picture perfect; some just a blip in time. For my 800th it will be this Peregrine Falcon over Cote de Liesse at the airport in Dorval, Quebec yesterday. Great to see a Peregrine patrolling the skies in the west island of Montreal. A bird that nearly went extinct due to pesticides is now making a comeback.

Along with an adult, this immature Peregrine Falcon was hunting near the Champlain Bridge at Montreal over the weekend. It was occasionally perched on the very highest point of the bridge, and then would take off going upwards until nearly impossible to see.

The Peregrine Falcon is a formidable hunting machine. It can reach over 300 km/h in pursuit of prey. I would not want to be a Pigeon or Duck in the area of the Champlain Bridge these days.

In a very lucky morning look from the window, I saw a Peregrine with it's mate and 1 young bird flying over the airport. This is many times I've seen them but the first all together. I believe they nested.
