Chris: Very lucky yesterday. Also had 2 Great-horned in the same sanctuary but about 60 feet in a dense conifer

It certainly has been long time coming - nearly 30 years since my last Gyrfalcon sighting - and not for lack of trying. It was somewhat surreal having a couple of minutes to take these photos after so many failed attempts to locate one. Seen in the Pitt Meadows valley in good looking Gyrfalcon habitat.

Canada Geese began heading right for me as they decended into the Saint Lazare sand pits. In the end about 500 geese were present.

A feeding frenzy today in Hudson Quebec: American Goldfinch, Pine Siskin, and Purple Finch holding on to their places at a feeder while others wait including Chickadee, Redpoll, Nuthatch and Downy Woodpecker.
