Merlin - I spotted two pairs in this area. The males were singing. This Midwestern species irrupts into the region in small numbers to breed and it often occurs after our main songbird migration is over.

Brian Morin: This subject is proof that you should always ask what people are seeing, even if you think it may be something common. As I was driving by I couldn't see what a small group was looking at on the ground so I stopped to ask and they said a Lark Sparrow. I pulled over and grabbed the camera, fast.

Oshawa - McLaughlin Bay Reserve. These birds have a bright breeding plumage compared with the grey appearance in the fall. A few Knots show up along the shores of the southern Great Lakes in spring but normally just one or two birds at a time. Seeing a flock in Ontario is rare.
