Ring-necked Pheasants have been introduced all over the world for the pleasure of hunters, but they originate from Southeast Asia. They need to be constantly restocked since they would not be able to sustain their populations on their own outside their natural range!

This species was very common in Rocky Mountain NP, and I even had birds get closer to me but I wasn't ready with the camera then!! I had to get away with a quite distant shot!!

Along with the amazing rutting elk, Moraine park hosted a wealth of birds in the meadows. Probably the most common were Mountain Bluebirds.

This was an exciting find for me, even though supposedly common in the area. However, it was so close and did not feel disturbed by my presence or by the many other people walking by! He kept working its bark as if nothing were. I guess there was a lot of good stuff under it!!
