For a brief moment a Cassin's Sparrow came out of the field. Unfortunately I couldn't get any decent photos, however the dark "anchors" are visible on the upperparts, as well as the faint eye ring. La Joya, Texas.

Details: female

A real treat to see the Rose-throated Becard for the first time. The Gray-collared Becard was also in nearby trees but could not be photographed. Resaca De La Palma State Park.

Brian Morin: Nice to be able to pick up some specialties on your trip.
Chris: As birdwatching evolves, I now often go out just with the camera and no binoculars. Partly for weight, but also I found I was using the camera most of the time. I have a bunch of “record” shots including a poor Crimson-collared Grosbeak, that if any field marks are visible I’ll attempt to upload. The sorting from earlier this year isn’t complete though 🫣
