You just never know what might happen when you look out the window at your bird feeder. One of the most splendid plumages in North America is that of the Northern "Red-shafted" Flicker, seen here in heavy rain at Vancouver, Canada.

After taking some shots at the feeders, I staked out the nearby branches where the birds would perch momentarily.

Unfortunately, this property is for sale and will likely cease to welcome the birds and birders.
