In North Hatley, we stayed at an inn that had birdfeeders on their property. This jay was sort of approachable, and the closest I ever got to one with a camera.

A 2nd shot from Punta Leona of this Cuckoo. It is his tail underside that is so catchy to the eye, as he flashes into and out of view.

Last day in Punta Leona near Jaco, waiting for transport, heard a bird call across the street in a large tree, went to investigate. Spotted him, but I didn't get many clear shots. He kept screening behind foliage. Marveled at his extra long tail.

On a bug infested walk along the bic path out of Ayer's Cliff, I spotted this bird in some distant shrubs. Couldn't get closer. From the shape, I thought I saw a cuckoo, but didn't know we had them here. I was somewhat confused till I got to see the book. Requested by S.B.

The double-crested Cormorants are not completely waterproof. Their feathers absorb water in order to make then heavier so they could dive deeper up to 80 feet down.
