Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

Sorry for the poor quality, but as I was biking through the regional park at Waldorf near Frankfurt I saw my first Sparrowhawk. Could not get any closer though. This is an accipiter, but not the same as the similar Sharp-shinned Hawk.

We were lucky on our boat trip off Punto Choros, as we had 3 Tern species in a short time, including this South American Tern.

We only saw 1 Shearwater on our trip to Isla Choros, Chile. It was again hard to photograph because it kept disappearing behind the waves.
