Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

It's been a good run with you folks. Here's photo 1000 for me, and specie number 1500 for the site. We're also marking, unbelievably, the 10 year anniversary of Birdviewing this fall. Everywhere we turned, a new species was uncovered. With over 410 bird species, the Kakamega Forest is one of the most important bird areas in Africa. It is phenomenal that such an old-growth forest has been preserved.
