Ottawa - A great treat to see this species within an hour from home. The bird was present for a few days, visible often at close range. One couple were sitting on a bench waiting for it to come to a feeder, only to find out the bird had been perched almost over their heads for 30 minutes. :)

I did t realize they were irruptive or prone to wandering. What a sight that must have been!
They do wander and every year there are a few reports in the province but seldom this far east.
Wonderful!
This was really lucky because before the bird moved to this spot it was backlit. A jay pushed it out but that made it perfect.
