This species caused some confusion with the group of birders that had assembled. After much review it appears to be a Yellow-crowned Tyrannulet especially with the prominent wing bars that are not seen in this photo. Happy to hear other opinions though. Gamboa, Panama.

Thankfully this bird didn't fly away as we passed by along the road. It had been eating something so we left it to go back for breakfast. Gamboa, Panama.

The last time we came across this species was 25 years ago in Patagonia, Arizona when my brother spotted him along a stream. Had the camera ready this time! Gamboa, Panama.

One of the great birds of Panama. We saw many of these striking species, the deep colouring visible even without sunlight in the forest. Gamboa, Panama.

At times it was hard to keep track of what was around us. This species suddenly turned up as we following other birds and then disappeared not to be seen again. Gamboa, Panama.
