Brian Morin: This was the hawk of the day. I had a banner experience with 26 Rough-legs, a high count for the winter but this was the only one that offered me a chance to memorialize the outing. It also ended up being one of my better perched shots of the species.

Kingston - Wolfe Island - We saw quite a number of them with most being light morph birds like this.

Chris: Very nicely done - and nice markings on the bird.
BrianMorin: This was a very tough one. I had five seconds to bang off a sequence as it flew and thankfully had preset the exposure with a couple of f-stops over so the bird wouldn't expose too dark. It was a question of shoot first, asked questions later. The hawk was also very close as it flew so the focus was sharp.

St. Rose - This photo is uncropped. I was driving along a rural road keeping an eye on a flock of redpolls to my right when I was startled by something taking off a few feet away on my left. This Rough-leg was right there. I jumped out and popped a few shots, most of which didn't work because I only had part of the bird in the frame. It was too close. :)
