I saw this male scarlet tanager in West Dean Park of western Toronto. The bright red and black shows off the breeding male's colour. This will change to greenish colour during the Fall season.

male, adult, winter plummage
This scarlet tanager was in fall plumage that tooks me a while to figure out the identification. In contrast the Spring plumage in bright red and black, this bird tranformed into entirely different colour, yellow/green/black.
