Krish: The yellow-billed oxpecker feeds on insects and ticks, earning its name from its behaviour of perching on large mammals and consuming parasitic arthropods. In a single day, it can remove over 100 ticks. While ticks are a significant part of its diet, the oxpecker prefers blood and will peck at wounds on mammals to feed directly. Despite this behaviour, mammals generally tolerate the presence of oxpeckers.
