This bird is now known as Cape Spurfowl- Spurfowl and Francolins were split some years ago.Spurfowl have a harsh grating call while Francolins have attractive whistled calls. Cape Spurfowl is a Southern African endemic found only in the SW Cape and in the most southerly corners of Namibia
