I received a report of a Black-throated Gray Warbler on the Quebec side in Aymer (Gatineau). As this would be a lifer I grabbed the binos and camera and went looking.

This peekaboo shot was the only one I captures with the bird in sunshine. For the most part it was heavy overcast.

Lifer 322 for my Ottawa area list!

Snowy Owl with the lights of Montreal's runway 24L-06R in the background. The avifauna control needed to use flares to scare the bird away from the runway several times. Additional pics in the forum under sightings.

If my id is correct, there are Glaucous, Iceland, Herring and Ring-billed Gulls in this photo. Anyone care to confirm? Seen at Saint-Anne des Monts, Quebec.

Although the Saint Lawrence river was calm in the morning, as a snow storm began during the day the water quickly got choppy. It didn't bother this Iceland Gull seen near Saint Anne des Monts.

Not a great shot, but was finally able to photograph the Glaucous Gull. What I believe to be several species, including adult winter plumage (centre), immature first winter Glaucous (4th bird from the left), Great black-backed Gull (5th from left), Herring Gull (2nd from left) and other unidentified birds, possibly young Herring Gulls.

It's been almost 20 years since I saw my last Ross's Gull - ironically it was at the exact same location - Fort Chambly, Quebec, just east of Montreal. Very rare visitor to our area.
