Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

nest
This is a Killdeer nest that was built in approximately a 2 foot wide patch of grass next to the parking lot at the airport in Dorval, Quebec. I'm not sure how this bird will successfully raise young in this location. My biggest concern is the continuous mowing of grass, which somehow hasn't come over this nest yet.

This bird was tricky to photograph; it was foraging in low light and heavy shrubbery, then suddenly jumped into sun after a large fly. Seen at Long Point, Ontario.

An example of the good work that Bird Studies Canada is doing at the Long Point Banding Station. Here a bander is holding a Lincoln's Sparrow - the netting is checked every 15min for new birds. Taken at Long Point, Ontario, Canada.

This was taken just after 7:00am on what we named "Cape May Day". The deep yellow and chestnut pattern of this species make it a favourite amongst birders from all over spotting at Long Point.
