Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

What I believe is a Semipalmated Sandpiper standing beside a Least Sandpiper - please correct me if I'm wrong as my Sandpiper identification is not the greatest. Vaudreuil Bay, west of Montreal on Sunday July 22, 2012.

We found by complete luck a nest of a Red-winged Blackbird today. Without wanting to disturb the situation, we quickly snapped this photo and left the area. It was also important to keep the covering reeds over the nest.

Louisiana is heaven for Sparrows, due to the variety of habitats. Seen in the rain, and part of a flock of about 10.

I believe the first photo of a Field Sparrow on Birdviewing! Taken near a hedgerow bordering open fields in Louisiana. Noticeable field marks are the white wing bars and white eye ring.
