Ajax - An early morning shot of our largest uncommon to rare fall shorebird migrant. The bird was very active feeding on mudflats. It will stick its beak and head into mud to as close as a few millimetres below the eye.

Another great find!
We had very poor shorebirding this fall due to high water levels in the east all summer. I wanted to check out this bird further southwest, the only one I would see this year. I watched it for over an hour, with both the bird and me in the mud on a fine fall morning.
