Kingston - This visitor from the US south hatched in 2024 and at the end of this year should be in adult plumage.

Excellent find, well captured.
This involved some tough slugging. The first 10 minutes along a wide trail was through a flooded area with a 75-foot stretch that had up to 12″ of water. My boots were 14″ thankfully. We initially saw the bird at a distance with only poor shots possible. I waited four hours more and the bird flew to within 40 feet and remained for 15 minutes. It was worth the wait.
Very good effort that certainly paid off, and is now cemented forever with this photo.
