Seen at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. The backlit crest produced an interesting effect.

Another photo of the unknown bird - anyone can confirm this is a Ring-necked Duck?

I'm actually not 100% sure this is a Ring-necked Duck - any help would be appreciated. The eye line extending back and downward in a curve was quite distinct. Seen at St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec.

One of the challenges of fall birding: find a Ross' Goose in amongst Snow Geese while being buffeted by 50km/h winds. Finally succeeded today, and in review of the photo there were actually 3. Taken at Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. This was a lifer.

adult, outside normal range
Not since August 1991 have I seen this species. Located in Lachute, Quebec outside it's normal range. After a snow squall the bird took a bath in the water on the cedar leaves.

An unexpected find at Ile Sainte-Hélêne, Quebec today as the temperature dipped to 2C. Seen along the shoreline on the Montreal side. I managed a short video here: http://youtu.be/3Mcwv_OQ31A
