Details: adult

Hillman Marsh - Similar to Long-billed. Bill usually shorter and it begins to gently curve downward about one third of the way from the tip. In spring plumage there is spotting rather than barring on the breast near the bend in the wing which is found in Long-billed.
With dowitchers, no two birds are alike with markings.

Ingleside - I was able to walk along a mudflat and carefully approach without disturbing the bird.

Crysler - I returned to the area and discovered the bird still present. I remained at one spot in the river (only inches deep in this area so great for shorebirds, and for me) and waited for it to approach for some good shots.

BrianMorin: I waited 90 minutes for the bird to return to this spot. I took shots in other settings but this was one of the best.
