The Ivory-billed Woodpecker was partly responsible for the creation of this site in 2005. Last week marked the first time for me seeing its cousin in the genus Campephilus, the Crimson-crested Woodpecker. Glad to see him doing well in the deep forest of Panama.

Probably the surprise of the trip. This uncommon owl was seen in the extensive Soberania National Park near Gamboa, Panama. Map details attached.

We were so lucky to be visited by a Keel-billed Toucan in good light and close range. One of the highlights of 3 spare days west of Panama City near Gamboa. Thankfully the camera was ready and the humidity wasn't fogging up the lens.

On our first walk into the village, we saw this bird in a front yard shrub. It was a kept, tamed, but free bird.

There was a flock of these Tanagers feeding on the fallen palm fruit, but wary of people on the other side of the hedges & walkways. Hotel grounds.
