There have been four owls just off the dyke recently. Today, one of them came out to pose. May photographers present.

It is definitely agreed by the local birding community that these are long-eared. They appear a bit stockier than what is seen in field guides.

There have been a pair here for about 3 weeks. The Iona and Tsawwassen jettys provide a limited tundra like environment that attracts, Buntings, Horned Larks and Lapland Longspurs in fall and winter.

Took the afternoon off and headed down to White Rock to walk the pier. Scoters swim right under the pier, oblivious to the people above.
