St. Rose - I have commented before that this species is our most difficult hawk to photograph because it is small and never allows us to approach close enough for a decent shot. This bird broke the rules, permitting me to get a nice view from the car without disturbing it. I am not fond of taking shots of birds on power lines but I will make an exception in this case.

Navan - We spotted a pair at a farm found the day before. They are uncommon in the region. Many birders go one or more years between sightings. The birds were not very close but good enough to record the experience.

Blenheim - An uncommon migrant. I sat on the grass and waited. After a short time the bird walked to within six feet. That's why shorebirds can be fun to work with if you play the waiting game rather than chasing, which seldom works.

Regular but uncommon species appearing in late fall-early winter, usually along the lower Great Lakes. A small number appear each year. Most birds end up on the Atlantic coast.

Brighton - This is the second individual I've seen recently, in this case beside an older calf. It was another late fall with multiple birds showing up in Ontario but fewer than in 2022. Some will remain until it gets too cold or snow covers the ground.
