captive
Taken14 Feb 05, w/Canon S1 IS,
Mayan Riviera, Quintana Roo, Mexico
Before they started shooting Canadians, we went to Mexico a number of times. There was quite a bit of birding possible on the hotel grounds with the landscaping use of trees in foresty nooks.
The Macaw was obviously a kept bird, but not attached or restrained.

Taken jun 2004, with Canon S1 IS, North Hatley, QC
My wife was driving when I spotted him on the log pile at the side of the road. I yelled to stop the car, whiich eventually happened. Backed up and took some shots. The first were through the windshield in fear of scaring him off. This one was between my wife and her steering wheel.
The few shots of this Snipe hooked me on bird photography.

Saw him last year but messed up the photos.
Thanks to Felix for finding it. He also says that word has it that they are quite rare locally.
