Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

The morning we were heading to Sachatamia Lodge, this showed up at Mirador Rio Blanco. Thanks to Sue and Ahmad for identifying it - the only instance this species appeared during the week I was there.

"Usually hard to see, because the undergrowth is so thick"...as the field guide says, this wasn't easy. I saw something moving, raised the camera, she saw me and I saw her - one picture and disappeared. Satchatamia Lodge trail.
