Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

We were moving at a good clip when this guy was spotted. In order not to flush him we backed up a good ways past him, then approached to a reasonable distance gauging whether he was nervous. After a few pics we moved off without causing him fly. Near Benton Lake NWR, Montana.

I'm not sure how long Lou and I waited for this bird. He was calling for some time, and then through a pocket of very dense woods made a brief appearance. Striking bird. Wagonwheel Rd, east of Osoyoos, BC.

Good things can happen getting up at 5:00am. My second ever encounter with this species - Grande Prairie, Alberta. The first encounter in Arkansas had fewer mosquitoes.

Identified by a recording, and because of it's shorter bill. Lostine Road, near La Grande Oregon.

We were more concerned with getting identification - another view of our first Plumbeous Vireo showing gray colouring and larger bill. The dark bar on the head is a shadow. City of Rocks National Reserve.
