Birding since the late 1980s...mid 40s birder. Being out in nature and hearing the morning chorus, seeing how birds interact with their surroundings and go about their lives provides me a greater understanding of the natural environment we live in. With bird photography, every photo is different, which makes seeing the same and different species exciting.

A strange occurrence - I was carefully photographing a Blue-winged Teal when I heard a distinctive song behind me. After hearing and seeing many Rose-breasted Grosbeaks in Ontario last week, it occurred to me the song might actually be this species, which I've not seen in 28 years. Sure enough, he came out of heavy shrubbery just long enough for a quick snap, then he was gone. Iona regional park, Richmond, BC.

These last 2 photos of the trip have to be dedicated to Sue and Ahmad (Sashah), who's incredible experience in the field really made these possible. Thanks to them for showing me around one of Canada's great nature areas. Long Point, Ontario.
